Continue!

As difficult as it may seem to reason why one might continue with such an enterprise... thats just what i will do. progress goes slow for a number of reasons. the number of reasons is three.
the first... my arm is only the last few days feeling totally mobil, the second... i cant afford any new canvas once its finished, so i might as well take it easy and the third... i am, for some reason, a bit afraid of just attacking it in my characteristic fashion... it think i need a side project to release the tension of all the planning and consideration this one takes. i have been doing a few other skethes in pencil and paint of various kinds but it doesnt seem worth the paint if im not painting on a better surface that sketch paper... i'm not made of the stuff you know! today i'm going to do some of the small animal/demons in the background and perhaps tidy up the city a little.i know something needs to happen to the mountains but i really cant think what

Im back...

Yup, arm's all better and Im back painting again. thank god, developing a bit of an internet addiction there. Actually, its easy to get addicted to www.deviantart.com .
So, i've mostly been poking at the top of this picture, trying to find a way to give it that dreamy effect but for it not to be pleasant, given the theme of the picture, and also to link it visually with the figure of the saint and the wolf at the bottom of the picture. i believe its getting there now and althought i am aware of the similarity to starry night by van gogh... you know what, at the moment, i just dont care... i think today will mostly be working on other areas of the picture since staring too long at the sky often makes one go a bit woozy...

St Anthony

So here we are, Im going to do away with the studio page which i was using on my website in order to keep a record of the process of making pictures since i kept deleting the content and it made no kind of record at all really. From now the record will exsist here as it seems like the perfect format and it wont take nearly as much effort on my part.

The above is the result of the first few days work of a new painting the temptation of St. Anthony. The sources i've been looking at are the obvious northern european versions from the late middle ages. as i write i am distracted by the absolutly awful version of Leanord Cohens "bird on a wire" by Jennifer Warnes which is the second awful track on a whole cd of this awful woman's awful versions of some great songs. what has she done?! i think im going to be sick.
